Ukraine
will last much longer than Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to US
Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
In the
ongoing conflict, Blinken believes that Putin is "failing in Ukraine"
and that "Ukraine is succeeding."
"Russia's
goal has always been to deprive Ukraine of its sovereignty and independence.
According to CNN, Blinken told reporters after meeting with Ukraine's President
Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv that "that has failed."
"Of course, we are
seeing exactly the opposite," the diplomat said, adding that Russia was
attempting to assert its military and economic power.
"We don't know how
the rest of this war will play out, but we do know that a sovereign,
independent Ukraine will exist for much longer than Vladimir Putin."
Blinken and Defense
Secretary Lloyd Austin met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and
other Ukrainian officials in Kyiv.
